The Network of African Volcanologists (NAV) is a continental non-profit organization established in July 2023, headquartered at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Kenya. Its core mission is to advance volcanological science and education across Africa, promoting research, cooperation, training, and policy advice, particularly regarding active volcano surveillance and risk assessment. NAV maintains autonomy while actively collaborating with international geoscience associations. The organization is governed by a democratically elected, 15-member Executive Committee (EC), with membership open to African and non-African professionals, students, and institutions. Active membership is required for participation in NAV conferences and for voting on or being nominated for the EC.
